Working with the Cowes Week Meteorologist, and the support of Wight Link Ferries, RPR have installed additional Weather Monitoring on the Isle of Wight, at Wight Link’s Ryde Pier for the Cowes Week Regatta.
The annual Cowes Week Regatta dates back to the days of the Price Regent and his interest in yachting, this continued after he became King George IV. The first race started at 09:30 on Thursday 10 August 1826 with the prize of a “Gold Cup of the value of £100”. The modern regatta, with 40 daily sailing races, up to 1,000 boats, and 8,000 competitors ranging from Olympic and world-class professionals to weekend sailors, it is the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world.
The GSM enabled Wind and Weather Station is self-contained, mounted on an aluminium mast suitable for temporary or permanent fixture, with power supplied by battery or local mains.
FlexiMet Wind Systems are used to deliver highly accurate, reliable Wind Speed, Wind Direction along with other Weather measurements such as Pressure, Temperature, Relative Humidity and Rainfall data.
Over the last 12 months Temporary weather sites have been in use for visitors and event personnel at the RHS Flower Shows at Chelsea, Hampton Court, Tatton Park and Chatsworth House. Other diverse event such as Brands Hatch motor racing, Prudential Ride London, BBC Countryfile Live, Victorious Festival and the 2016 Olympic venues in Brazil. They are also used in airports, construction sites, emergency services and any situations where wind and weather monitoring is required. The system allows the flexibility for contractors and visitors on and off site to view real-time wind data.
Richard Paul Russell Ltd introduced the GSM enabled system to the FlexiMet range during 2016. These self-contained mobile systems send live data to www.Weatherfile.com where wind and weather can be viewed live, online, on any internet connected device ( Phone, Tablet, Laptop or PC ).
The systems sensors are based on the MaxiMetGMX range. These are maintenance-free and deliver the ultimate in highly accurate wind speed, direction and weather monitoring. The corrosion free exterior eliminates costly maintenance and servicing, so is also the perfect choice for remote, offshore or long term monitoring,
Data is recorded on the internal SpaceLogger.W8.Wireless datalogger (data is stored on a removable SD memory card) and also is transmitted live via GRPS into the weatherfile.com database.
Short term events such as festivals and sports events may lease or rent a system for the duration than purchase outright. Ask Richard Paul Russell Ltd for details of this cost effective way of monitoring environmental conditions during an event.
