Richard Paul Russell ltd is pleased to announce Southwold Lifeboat Station has joined Weather-File.com.

Richard Paul Russell Ltd is supplying a complete FlexiMet 3 Wind System with two WS-15A displays. The system consists of a WindSonic 1 wind speed and direction sensor using proven ultrasonic technology from Gill Instruments. This 2-axis ultrasonic wind sensor is maintenance-free and easy to install and is combined with two WS-15A displays a SpaceLogger.W8. Wireless data logger and a unique home page on the Weather-File.com Web Site. This system delivers the ultimate in highly accurate ‘plug and go’ wind speed and direction monitoring.

The Southwold lifeboat station was one of 19 that took part in the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk. Over its 140-year history Southwold lifeboat crews have been presented with over 20 awards for gallantry.

Southwold harbour and river entrance can be particularly challenging as the mud banks are continually moving and exposed to northerly winds. Due to this the local lifeboat men wanted to have an accurate insight into wind speed and direction prior to launch and over the internet before they arrived at the station. The FlexiMet 3 system offered the perfect solution with the SpaceLogger.W8.Wireless data logger transmitting real-time wind speed and direction data to the Weather-File.com website that can be viewed by PC, tablet or phone anywhere. Two local WS-15A displays give real-time data within the lifeboat station boat house and another for the public in the lifeboat station window.
