WeatherFile added at Moneypoint
Richard Paul Russell have added another location to its WeatherFile network with the Moneypoint power station located on the River Shannon near Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland’s largest electricity generation station with an output of around 915 MW.
The client operates large tower cranes on rails to unload coal from visiting vessels; these cranes require wind monitoring equipment to deliver live accurate data independent of local Wi-Fi or LAN network. This data is critical for the safe operation of the cranes and the data needed to be viewable by on-site and off-site personnel responsible for operation limits.
Richard Paul Russell Ltd used the WindSonic 1 solid-state ultrasonic sensor that has many advantages over conventional cup anemometers and vane sensors. Having no moving parts that can jam, break or wear out makes it the sensor of choice for harsh weather conditions and remote locations when you need to know you can just fit and leave without fear of failure or damage that occurs with traditional cup and vane sensors.
This sensor was connected to our WeatherFile Mobile Unit (WMU) which allows data to be gathered directly from the Gill WindSonic 1 sensor and sent to our WeatherFile website, the result is cable free live data through WeatherFile completely independent of the buildings local internet increasing security as it separates it from the customers own Wi-Fi network or LAN and any associated security risks. This data can then be viewed through the public internet through any device including PC, tablet and smart phone with the additional functionality of email alerts if certain wind speed and direction parameters are exceeded.
Richard Paul Russell Ltd have over 20 years of experience in supplying wind monitoring equipment to the tower crane market providing complete solutions to meet individual client needs.
